Congratulations to the Marcellin College Randwick Class of 2022 on your outstanding HSC results! 

Our school climbed 44 positions from last year, placing 82nd in The Sydney Morning Herald rankings, making it the highest achieving boys’ school in Sydney Catholic Schools.

With over 96% of its courses at or above state average, Marcellin is the second highest achieving school in the system in 2022. 

We also recorded 130 Distinguished Achievers, seven All Rounders and two Top Achievers. 

Marcellin principal Mark Woolford congratulated Year 12 on their fantastic efforts. 

“They are a wonderful group of young men who are friendly, positive, respectful and resilient,” Mr Woolford said. 

“Their results were very pleasing given the disruption to their learning they have experienced in recent years.”

Mr Woolford also thanked the teachers and educators who guided the Class of 2022 through their HSC. 

“We have high quality teachers with deep knowledge of their subjects and a love of, and belief in, their students.

System success
Sydney Catholic Schools has achieved outstanding results in the 2022 HSC with nine of its 33 schools ranked among the top 100 high schools in NSW.

A total of 17 schools ranked among the top 150 secondary schools, underlining Sydney Catholic Schools’ position as one of the top performing systems in Australia. 

Sydney Catholic Schools recorded an impressive 2630 Distinguished Achievers, 66 Top Achievers and 58 All Rounders.

Here’s a recap of our 2022 HSC highlights:

  • Ranked 82nd in NSW (previously ranked 126th in 2021)
  • 130 Distinguished Achievements – lists the students who achieved a result in the highest band (Band 6 or Band E4) for one or more courses, not including results for courses studied external to their school
  • Two Top Achievers – student(s) who achieved one of the highest places in an HSC course or VET examination and also achieved a result in the highest band (Band 6 or Band E4)
  • Two All Rounders – number of students scoring above 90 in at least 10 units
